Raw Material Operator/Mechanic - Nights
SUMMARY: Intermediate level position. Performs skilled work in the preparation & storage of prill. Operates various manual & automated equipment. Ensures product meets all specifications. Ensures work areas are safe, neat, clean & ready for production. Work is performed under general supervision.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Advises the BP Manager in a timely fashion of repairs / equipment issues that adversely effects equipment performanceAdvises the BP Manager in a timely fashion of process issues that result in quality or out of spec issuesAssist maintenance with Body Prep equipment repairs as necessaryChecks & empties dust from dust collectors as necessaryChecks & empties hoppers as necessaryChecks & reports silo levels as necessaryChecks, logs & reports required data pertaining to emission conditions of dust collection equipment in Body Prep areaCleans magnets & screens according to current work instructionsCompletes all required reports, logs, etc. accurately, neatly, completely & timelyFollow all safety policiesFollow all standard work instructionsKeeps accurate report / log of equipment &/or process issuesKeeps accurate reports on volume of material processed &/or consumedMaintain safe & clean working environment at all times, conducts general housekeeping in assigned areasOperates & maintains forklift as neededOperates dust control equipment as necessaryPerforms & reports results of process / material QC audits per work instructionsPerforms related tasks as requiredDetermines where crude material deliveries are to be unloadedKeeps accurate reports on material deliveriesMonitor dust & re-work levels, report any/all issues immediatelyOperates & maintains mobile sweeping equipment as necessaryOperates automated fired scrap crushing & grinding system as necessaryOperates automated silo feeding & conveying systemsOperates front-end / wheel loader as necessaryProperly fills silos with crude raw materials from bunkers & maintains a safe inventory level of raw materials in crude material silosReceives, reviews, verifies raw material deliveries & processes shipping documents to ensure proper materials have been deliveredUnloads, transports & stores materials as requiredAdds correct size & quantity of media to MMC modules per current work instructionsChecks, controls & records slurry parameters in storage tanksCompletes & logs media checks according to current work instructionsEnsures that all slip production meets required specificationsEnsures that correct batch formula is used per current specificationsKeeps accurate reports on volume of slip produced & consumedMaintains slip inventory via scheduled slip tank measurements & determining necessary MMC start/stop scheduleOperates automated silo unloading, batching, conveying & feeding systemOperates automated multi-stage continuous ball mill (MMC) in the preparation of body slipOperates raw material storage, handling & processing equipment including front-end loader, continuous mill, etc. as necessaryOperates slip handling systems, including but not limited to various pumps, hoses, tanks, sieves, etc.Assist with training of Level I & II Operators as necessaryChecks, controls & records prill moisture according to current work instructionsChecks, controls & records process water parameters in storage tanksCompletes & logs prill scale calibration according to current work instructionsEnsures that all prill production meet required specificationsMaintains prill inventory via scheduled prill silo measurements & determining necessary spray dryer start/stop scheduleMonitors Level I & II activities, suggests options for improved resultsOperates automated blunging system, controls & maintains materials within specificationsOperates automated prill humidity device according to current work instructionsOperates automated prill handling, conveying & storage systemsOperates automated spray drying system (ATM) in the preparation of prillOperates various devices per current work instructions to characterize product ; ie. thermal balance, digital scale, dryer, rotap, etc.Perform ATM nozzle maintenance, ensure nozzles are in proper working order at all timesTroubleshoot / solve basic process & quality problemsQUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work productively in a team environment, develop & maintain effective working relationships with team membersAbility to understand & follow oral & written instructionsAbility to interface with PC for data entry of process control parametersAbility to maintain accurate recordsAbility to maintain focus while working individuallyAbility to operate a forkliftAbility to operate a wheel loaderAbility to operate automated control systems for production equipmentAbility to recognize work area hazards & take measures to avoid themAbility to work in confined spacesBasic knowledge of the occupational hazards involved & the safety precautions necessary for proper handling of the materials used in the Body Prep DeptBasic knowledge of the types of material being handledBasic knowledge of inventory practicesKnowledge & willingness to learn, support & implement Florida Tile training methods as well as policies & proceduresKnowledge of precautions necessary for ensuring safe work environment for self & team membersMust have High School Diploma or GEDMust have physical condition & agility for performing strenuous manual laborProfessional conduct required, including excellent attendance, exemplary contribution/performance & other desirable behaviors such as positive attitude etc.Requires wearing a respirator as needed, requires a clean-shaven face.
