Non-CDL Yard Spotter

Overview We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Non-CDL Yard Spotter to join our team. Responsibilities Communicate daily with maintenance, dispatch and safety management teams regarding compliance and the mechanical needs of trailers. Check the general condition of trailers and equipment, i.e. tires, lights, trailer hook-up, brake lines, doors, body damage, reflectors, glad hands, lights for proper coupling. Assure that surface will support trailer before uncoupling tractor and trailer. Load and tarp trailers to ensure proper load security while trailers are underway in transport for the purpose of ensuring operational success daily. Drop and hook trailers throughout the day at the appropriate transfer station to the Crystal Lake yard. Load and tarp trailers for staging as pre-load for the following day. Assist transfer drivers in loading, tarping and securing loads at all times. Perform all job functions in a safe manner, being cognizant of good safety practices and always being alert and attentive. Ensure that vehicles moved have appropriate registration certificates, insurance documents, and license plates are current. Obtin and maintain appropriate paperwork pertaining to load scale tickets and daily run sheets. Communicate with dispatch tonnages, trailer needs, and pre-load list. Bring trailers that need mechanical attention to the Sunset shop and tire service when needed. Other duties as assigned. This position is integral to maintaining smooth yard operations while emphasizing safety and efficiency.
