FOH Manager on Duty

Hell's Kitchen is looking for a restaurant professional to join our team of employee owners as a Manager on Duty! Position Summary The Manager on Duty (MOD) is the “Captain” of the shift. Reporting to the FOH Manager, the MOD holds full authority and responsibility for the front-of-house operation during their shift. Your mission? Turn our promise of a “Damn Good Time” into reality — ensuring every shift runs safely, profitably, and smoothly. Success in this role depends equally on who you are and what you deliver. We hire, review, and reward based on this balance. We lead with service, helping first and going the extra mile to uplift our guests, teammates, and community. We pursue excellence by mastering our roles and holding ourselves to high standards of personal and professional growth. We take ownership of the entire experience — food, service, culture, and profit — confronting problems directly, making decisions that strengthen the business, and owning our mistakes when they happen. And through it all, we show grit: staying positive under pressure, doing hard things well, and persevering with integrity and pride. Primary Roles & Owned Outcomes 1. Calling the Shots You own real-time decision-making for the entire FOH operation. You are the central nervous system during the rush — filtering information from the kitchen, bar, and host stand to make decisive calls. 2. Shift Labor Management You own the financial performance of the shift — especially FOH labor cost. 3. Staff Accountability & Support You own morale and performance standards on the floor. You lead through service — running food, bussing, stocking — while holding the line on excellence. High standards. High support. 4. Shift Communication & Close-Out You own the integrity of the operational hand-off and financial reconciliation. No surprises. No loose ends. 5. Service Execution & Guest Recovery You own the “Damn Good Time.” You turn angry guests into loyal fans. You’re obsessed with the “Save.” About You: You intuitively understand how the shift functions as a whole. You know pulling one lever impacts another. You thrive in controlled chaos. You love the rush. You want the weight of leadership. You take pride in turning negative situations into redemption stories. You possess: Emotional intelligence under pressure Operational versatility (Host, Server, WA, Bar coverage) Discipline to write detailed, honest logs The stamina for high-volume shifts What We’re Looking For 2+ years restaurant leadership experience (high-volume preferred) Strong financial acumen and labor management skills Conflict resolution expertise Comfort making hard calls in real time Commitment to excellence and accountability If you want a role where leadership matters, accountability is real, and controlled chaos feels like home, this seat might be yours.
