Construction Inspector - Water/Wastewater
RK&K is seeking a Construction Inspector experienced in water/wastewater utility construction inspection or knowledgeable in infrastructure construction and interested in applying this knowledge on construction sites. In this role you will support a Field Engineering and Inspection project originating out of the Treasure Coast and Southeast FL area.Construction Inspectors work independently on project sites but work closely with project managers, project engineers, construction managers and other team members in provision of construction services on a variety of water, wastewater, stormwater, and related infrastructure and facility projects.Essential FunctionsConduct regular inspections of water/wastewater, stormwater, utilities and related facilities construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and codes - to include water and sewer utilitiesConduct regular inspections of roadway infrastructure including earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage, flatwork, etc. to verify compliance with approved plans and contract documentsProvide field engineering, construction management and contract support services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests and change orders) as needed on site and in officeEnsure that construction workmanship and materials adhere to established industry standards and meet project specificationsAccurately document all construction inspection activities by creating daily reports and maintaining organized, detailed, and up to date field files Oversee and coordinate material testing activities to ensure materials used meet project specificationsConduct field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentationParticipate in close out activities, including preparation of punch lists and final inspection reports Communicate effectively and collaboratively with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and project teams including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, designers, and other engineers Required Skills And ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentOne (1) to three (3) or more years of increasingly responsible, project experience in construction administration and inspection of water and wastewater facilities and transportation infrastructure or similar field Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, shop drawings, engineering reports and test results Strong communication and collaboration skills Demonstrated proficiency in the organization, retrieval, and presentation of construction documentation Knowledge of building codes, estimating and general contractor pricing strategies Proficiency with Microsoft Professional Suite including Word, Outlook, Project and Excel is required as well as tablet-based PDF annotatorsValid Driver License and suitable driving records are required Preferred Skills And ExperienceAssociate or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, engineering or related construction field Possession of current Construction Certifications or similar training and certifications including Florida Department of Transportation Construction Training & Qualification Program (CTQP) certificationsPhysical DemandsThis role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation.
