Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain large-scale Ruby on Rails applications in the healthcare domain Architect and implement RESTful APIs for internal services and third‑party integrations
Lead backend design decisions, code reviews, and best practices
Ensure high performance, scalability, reliability, and security of applications
Work closely with product owners, architects, QA, and integration teams
Handle healthcare data securely, ensuring HIPAA-compliant application behavior
Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidanceRequired Skills & Experience:
7–10 years of hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails Strong experience in designing and consuming RESTful APIs Deep understanding of Rails architecture, MVC patterns, and ActiveRecord Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL) Proficiency in Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing
Experience designing scalable, maintainable backend systems Healthcare Domain Requirements Prior experience working in healthcare, pharma, payer, or provider platforms
Strong understanding of PHI handling and HIPAA compliance requirements Familiarity with healthcare workflows such as prescriptions, eligibility, claims, or patient services Experience working in regulated, compliance-driven environmentsNice to Have:
API security implementation (OAuth 2.0, JWT, token-based authentication)
Exposure to HL7, FHIR, or healthcare integration standards Experience with background job processing (Sidekiq, Resque) Cloud experience (AWS / Azure / GCP)
Knowledge of microservices or service-oriented architectures
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience ' RoR RoR, API
