We reach millions of passionate Gen Z viewers and get them to stop, watch, and care through short-form videos about what matters to them now.THE ROLE:We’re hiring a Senior Producer/Editor (Freelance) to lead our social coverage from Wednesday through Sunday, owning the weekend editorial window when news breaks, conversations spike, and audiences are very online.This isn’t traditional news. We make short-form, social-first videos about the issues shaping people’s lives, including democracy, immigration, climate, reproductive rights, and more, for an audience that expects clarity, urgency, and a clear editorial perspective.WHAT YOU’LL DO:Lead weekend coverage across platforms, identifying the stories worth telling and shaping how they’re told Lead editorial decision-making during your coverage window, with clear ownership over what goes liveProduce, edit, and publish short-form videos, typically under 90 seconds, from concept to final deliveryWrite scripts and edit videos with a strong sense of pacing, tone, and structureCollaborate with the team to ensure continuity between weekday and weekend coverageSUCCESS WILL LOOK LIKE: You consistently identify timely, high-impact stories and translate them into content that performsYou move quickly on news and cultural moments while maintaining accuracy and clarityYour framing makes complex issues feel accessible, engaging, and relevant to a social audienceYou exercise strong editorial judgment, including fact-checking, sourcing, brand safety awareness, and knowing when to escalate questions You operate with a high level of ownership and accountability during your coverage windowYou collaborate effectively with peers, giving feedback in a way that strengthens the work and builds trustMUST HAVES: 5+ years producing social video, digital news, or similar contentStrong editorial instincts and judgment, with a clear understanding of what’s worth covering and what’s notDeep familiarity with how content performs on social platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTubeAbility to work independently and make decisions without a lot of oversightStrong writing skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging scriptsProficiency with Adobe Premiere and CanvaInterest in political, social impact, or issue-based storytellingOur Commitment to an Inclusive WorkplaceNowThis is an equal opportunity employer, deeply committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
