Safety Manager [HR- 14837]
We are seeking a Site Safety Manager to support a large-scale commercial construction project with a leading mechanical contractor. This role is ideal for a hands-on safety professional with strong construction experience who is comfortable leading safety efforts on a complex, multi-trade project and driving a proactive safety culture in the field.Start Date: ASAPLocation: Santa Barbara, CaliforniaContract Duration: 12–24 monthsResponsibilitiesLead implementation and enforcement of site-specific safety programs in alignment with OSHA and company standardsServe as the primary safety point of contact on-site for all trades and subcontractorsConduct daily field safety walks, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance and identify hazardsPartner with Superintendents and project leadership to develop and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)Lead pre-task planning meetings and support daily stretch-and-flex and toolbox talksFacilitate new hire orientations and ensure all personnel are properly onboarded to site safety requirementsDeliver ongoing safety training (e.g., Fall Protection, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, Hazard Communication)Monitor and enforce subcontractor compliance with project safety requirements and expectationsTrack and trend safety observations, near misses, and incidents to identify improvement opportunitiesInvestigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; complete documentation and root cause analysisDevelop and implement corrective action plans to mitigate risk and prevent recurrenceMaintain accurate safety documentation, including OSHA logs, reports, and compliance recordsSupport injury/illness case management, including documentation and return-to-work coordinationPerform regular inspections of tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure safe operationCollaborate with project leadership to address safety concerns and drive continuous improvement initiativesPromote a strong safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and consistent field presenceEvaluate effectiveness of safety programs, meetings, and employee engagement initiativesProvide regular feedback and reporting to leadership on safety performance, trends, and risksQualificationsProven construction safety experience (mechanical, HVAC, or MEP experience preferred)OSHA 30 Construction requiredOSHA 500 and CHST preferredStrong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practicesAbility to recognize hazardous conditions and implement effective corrective measuresStrong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence field teamsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic project environmentProficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
