Heavy Truck & Equipment Mechanic

Position OverviewWe are seeking a Truck & Equipment Mechanic to perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment. This role supports safe and reliable fleet operations through mechanical repairs, welding, and routine service work.The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with truck maintenance, brake systems, welding, and preventative maintenance and can work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment.Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Inspection & DiagnosticsConduct mechanical and light electrical inspections on trucks and equipmentRead job orders and listen to equipment in operation to diagnose malfunctionsTroubleshoot mechanical issues and determine repair proceduresMechanical RepairsDiagnose and repair components such as engines, transmissions, gearboxes, rear axles, springs, and drive linesTroubleshoot and repair brake systems and related mechanical componentsReplace or repair damaged equipment componentsPreventive MaintenancePerform preventative maintenance including brakes, fluids, lighting systems, and lubricationService equipment including oil changes and greasing trucks and machineryRecord services and repairs to maintain accurate maintenance recordsFabrication & Shop WorkPerform welding repairs and component fabricationOperate cutting torch and gas welding equipmentUse shop equipment including power drills, saws, air tools, and impact toolsSafety & Work EnvironmentWear required PPE during all shop activitiesMaintain a clean and organized shop environmentFollow all company safety policies and proceduresQualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GEDExperience0–3 years of truck mechanic or heavy equipment maintenance experienceTechnical school training or equivalent experience preferredRequired SkillsWelding experienceMechanical troubleshooting skillsAbility to read maintenance manuals and safety documentsAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesLicensingClass A or B CDL required or ability to obtainPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to climb, bend, stoop, and walk frequentlyAdditional SkillsMust possess a wide variety of mechanic toolsSpanish or bilingual skills are a plusWork EnvironmentShop and maintenance environmentFrequent use of shop tools and welding equipmentPhysical work including lifting, climbing, and bendingIdeal CandidateHands-on truck mechanic experienced in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and welding repairs while maintaining strong safety standards.
