Mechanical Engineer
Insight Global is hiring a Product Definition Engineer to support a leading aerospace manufacturer’s new Asheville, North Carolina site, focused on airfoil hardware for GTF engine programs. This role sits within an Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) environment and is responsible for developing and maintaining Class II engineering drawings in close partnership with design, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation with GD&T, comes from a drafting-focused background, is comfortable working in a fast-paced operations setting, and is interested in growing into a technical or people‑leader role over time. Responsibilities - Develop and update Class II engineering drawings to support manufacturing, tooling, inspection, and sustainment activities - Support airfoil components for GTF engine programs, ensuring drawing accuracy, clarity, and producibility - Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve drawing-related issues, discrepancies, and shop-floor questions - Translate design intent into clear and manufacturable product definition, including dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, notes, and specifications - Perform tolerance analysis and support geometric studies to ensure proper part fit, function, and interchangeability - Participate in engineering change activity (ECOs) and support configuration management within Teamcenter- Maintain and manage engineering data within CAD and PLM systems in compliance with Class II engineering standards- Serve as a technical liaison between design engineering and operations in an ESTO-focused role- Over time, act as a mentor to junior engineers/drafters and take on increasing technical leadership responsibility Onsite in Asheville, NC 12 month contract with potential extensionsPay Range: $35-$45/hr Required Skills & Experience - Associate’s degree at minimum in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline- 4–5+ years of experience in drafting, mechanical design support, or a related engineering field Hands-on experience detailing Class II engineering drawings - Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5. - Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments (shop support, sustainment, or MRO)- Familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter or similar configuration management tools - Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with operations-focused teams
