Duration: 1-year contract
Compensation: $70-80/hr
Our client is seeking an Acoustic Test Engineer II to support the testing, validation, and performance evaluation of advanced wearable audio products. This individual will play a hands-on role in executing acoustic measurements, troubleshooting audio performance issues, maintaining test systems, and delivering high-quality technical documentation within a structured engineering environment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on test engineer who enjoys working in a laboratory environment, has a strong foundation in acoustic measurements and audio analysis, and is passionate about delivering high-quality validation results for innovative audio products.
Key Responsibilities
Execute acoustic test plans and validation activities for wearable audio products
Perform acoustic measurements including Frequency Response, Sound Pressure Level (SPL), Audio Output Levels, + Gain and acoustic performance verification
Set up, configure, and operate acoustic measurement equipment and laboratory systems
Utilize tools such as Head and Torso Simulators (HATS), Acoustic couplers and fixtures, Measurement microphones, Audio interfaces, Acoustic calibrators
Capture, analyze, document, and archive test data
Troubleshoot product, acoustic, and measurement system issues
Generate detailed reports and maintain accurate technical documentation
Ensure compliance with test procedures, quality standards, and validation protocols
Escalate anomalies, calibration issues, and out-of-specification results
Support continuous improvement of acoustic testing methods, laboratory processes, and test capabilities
Assist senior engineers with verification and validation activities
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in acoustic testing, audio measurement, laboratory testing, or test engineering
Hands-on experience performing: Frequency Response measurements, SPL measurements, Audio Output Level measurements
Experience with acoustic test equipment, including: HATS systems, Acoustic calibrators, Measurement microphones, Acoustic couplers and fixtures
Understanding of Real-Ear Measurements (REM), Insertion Gain concepts, Acoustic and audio test methodologies, Basic signal processing principles
Experience using Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis or test automation
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Excellent technical writing, documentation, and reporting abilities
Detail-oriented with the ability to execute structured test procedures accurately and consistently
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in audiology, hearing-device testing, or related audio product development
Hands-on experience with real-ear measurements
Understanding of dynamic range compression concepts
Experience working within regulated or quality-controlled environments
Familiarity with ISO 13485, V&V processes, eQMS, FDA-regulated product development environments
Experience developing, optimizing, or improving acoustic test setups and laboratory workflows
