Facilities Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY: The Facilities Assistantworks collaboratively with all team members to ensure efficient and effective operations and programming. The Facilities Assistant is responsible for the maintenance, organization, sanitation and overall care and safety of Cradle Beach’s beautiful 66-acre campus including: buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment. All Facilities Staff work a semi-flexible schedule given service demands. Flexible evening and weekend hours are required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Performs hands-on general building maintenance and related projects including: construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, septic systems and small engine repair · Performs hands-on grounds maintenance including: plowing, lawn mowing, weedwacking, woodlands/trails upkeep, brush removal, beach clean-up, waste removal, etc. · Performs hands-on janitorial duties including cleaning buildings and bathrooms, wet/dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, painting, vacuuming and general cleaning as directed · Ensures all buildings, vehicles and property assets are safe and secure, reporting all needed repairs · Safe operations and use of all equipment (tractor, truck, golf carts) · Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements including: Department of Health, Office of Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), OSHA, Town, County, New York State and Federal requirements · Complete all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains daily upkeep of assigned area and equipment with minimal supervision · Engages professionally with staff, volunteers, children, contractors and vendors and all who visit · Abides by all Cradle Beach policies and procedures · Performs other duties as assigned KEY COMPETENCIES · Working knowledge of general maintenance work · Preferred: Working knowledge of various skilled trades including construction, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, septic systems and small engine repair · Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, project plans and related materials · Willingness to learn new skills, accepts supervision and seeks continuous quality improvement · Values and contributes to working in an enthusiastic, team-oriented and collaborative environment · Ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders (families, volunteers, donors, alumni & community) · Strong work ethic with high productivity in independent roles and within the team · Adaptable with strong problem solving, communication and task switching skills · Works well under pressure and with established deadlines and attention to detail · Mature, personable, professional · Semi-flexible, on-site, work schedule, including evening, weekend and/or on-call hours as necessary · Ability to meet all physical requirements and environmental conditions as attached · Ability to safely operate hand/power tools, agency vehicles and machinery · Computer skills including Microsoft Office QUALIFICATIONS · Valid NYS driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of insurance · High School Diploma (or equivalency) with 1-3 years maintenance experience · Successful completion of all required human resource and background checks Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location: In person
