This role is critical in assisting attorneys with patent and trademark prosecution, docket management, and client communications. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in IP legal support, particularly with the USPTO.Key ResponsibilitiesPatent & Trademark Support:Prepare and file patent applications, responses, IDSs, and related USPTO filingsPrepare and file Declarations of Use (DOUs), Statements of Use (SOUs), and assist with Office Action responsesMaintain accurate docketing in AppColl; monitor and track all deadlinesReview and docket communications from clients, the USPTO, and foreign associatesPay annuity and maintenance feesAttorney & Client Support:Attend weekly attorney meetings; prepare strategy drafts and remindersDraft and send formal correspondenceCommunicate regularly with clients regarding deadlines, filings, and updatesSend engagement letters and set up new client records in firm systemsAdministrative:Perform daily Patent Center docketingEnsure timely processing of all required filingsAdditional support tasks as assignedQualificationsEducation and Experience:Minimum 2+ years of intellectual property legal support experience requiredAssociate's or Bachelor's degree preferred; Paralegal certification preferredSkills & Tools:High attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsExperience using AppColl or similar IP docketing softwareProficiency in Microsoft Office and document formattingWork Environment & ExpectationsLocation: Hybrid- RaleighSchedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM ESTTravel: Occasional travel for conferences or client meetingsPhysical Demands:Regular computer-based work and communication via phone/email, including prolonged periods of sitting at a deskReasonable accommodations availablePerformance Reviews: Annual evaluations based on:Accuracy and timeliness of IP filingsDocket management proficiencyCommunication and responsivenessTeam collaboration and availabilityWhy Join Us?You'll work alongside a team that values your contribution, supports your professional growth, and encourages balance, accountability, and a positive workplace.
