Process Engineer

Process Engineer – Fill Finish (Design-stage) Contract | Initial 12 Months (3-5+ year scope) | Fully Onsite | Illinois Competitive | Hourly Rate (W2) + Expenses We’re working with a major pharmaceutical manufacturer on one of the most significant aseptic Fill finish capital expansions currently underway in the US. Based in Illinois, this is a greenfield programme targeting commercial manufacturing readiness – and it’s moving fast. We need a Process Engineer with genuine Fill Finish design experience. Not just someone who has qualified equipment, but someone who has been in the room when decisions were made – authoring URS, reviewing P&IDs, engaging vendors at design reviews, and driving process solutions from concept through to startup. The Role You’ll take end-to-end ownership of Fill Finish process systems across the full design and delivery lifecycle, working closely with Engineering, Automation, CQV, Manufacturing, and external vendors. Key responsibilities include: Developing and reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, URS, and design specifications Supporting equipment selection, bid evaluations, and vendor design reviews Ensuring Annex 1 and GMP compliance is embedded from concept stage Attending and leading FAT and SAT activities with equipment vendors Supporting commissioning, qualification, and startup through to operational handover Collaborating across Engineering, Automation, Quality, and Manufacturing functions in a fast‑paced capital project environment What We’re Looking For Degree in Chemical, mechanical, or process engineering or a closely related discipline Hands‑on experience in aseptic Fill Finish environments – filling lines, lyophilisers, isolators, vial handling systems – in a commercial pharmaceutical or biotech setting Experience in GMP‑regulated capital project environments, ideally on new facility builds or major expansions Working knowledge of Annex1 requirements in practice Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy in a demanding project environment If you have the Fill Finish design background and want to play a meaningful role in a significant capital build, we’d like to hear from you. Please note: Adjacent backgrounds in API, oral solid dose, or drug substance manufacturing won’t be sufficient for this programme. If your Fill Finish experience begins at commissioning rather than design, this role is unlikely to be the right fit. #J-18808-Ljbffr
