Assistant Golf Course Superintendent II
TPC Sugarloaf, a private club in Duluth, Georgia, offers a comprehensive golf course environment. The Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor will lead and manage the maintenance crew, ensuring optimal course conditions.
Responsibilities Direct the work of staff and assist the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations and the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent in recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance reviews.
Maintain thorough knowledge of all maintenance tasks related to Application Foreman, Irrigation Foreman, Equipment Operators (I–IV), Landscape Gardeners (I–IV), Irrigation Technicians (I–IV), and the application technician.
Ensure proper care and operation of maintenance equipment and perform maintenance tasks as needed.
Train staff on equipment operation, procedures and safety practices in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.
Assist in promoting and enforcing safety procedures and managing the daily departmental workload.
Maintain the overall organization and cleanliness of the golf course, equipment and maintenance facilities.
Assume duties of Irrigation Foreman or Application Foreman as required.
Direct special repairs, modifications and special projects.
Monitor and control departmental expenses within budget constraints.
Communicate regularly via a 2‑way radio system and wear required personal protective equipment.
Perform physical duties such as lifting, pulling, or pushing up to 50pounds and operating in outdoor weather conditions.
Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Turf Management, related field, or trades training with relevant work experience.
1–2 years of progressively responsible golf course maintenance experience, including general business administration practices applied to golf course operations.
Prior supervisory experience preferred but not required.
Working knowledge of golf course operations and maintenance practices.
Physical Demands & Working Environment Stand, walk, sit, kneel, use hands and talk or hear regularly.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 25pounds.
Operate in outdoor weather conditions, potentially lifting, pulling, or pushing up to 50pounds or handling awkward weights.
Requires compliance with all applicable federal, state and local safety regulations.
