District Recruitment for Vernon Parish:
The overall function of this position is to plan collect and review information needed for the inspection of roadway, bridge, and drainage projects. This position is located in District 08/Unit 248 (Leesvillle Construction Office) of the Department of Transportation and Development. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times without supervision or with minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.
While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR
Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Assists in the sampling and testing of construction materials for use on DOTD construction projects to ensure compliance with DOTD policies, procedures, and specifications.
Attends required training classes and receives on-the-job training in performing materials sampling and/or testing. Complete all training for Materials Testing Specialty areas as required by the position.
Maintain an accurate and thorough inventory of all materials sampled. Enters test data into appropriate computer database and retrieves information and/or procures reports as necessary.
Maintain all testing equipment, which may include cleaning, routine calibration, maintenance and certification of sampling and testing equipment.
May be required to participate in emergency/disaster activities.
Skilled use of programs/software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Reader, Site Manager, Content Manager, and LaGov.
Pass drug screening

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7:00AM to 3:30PM.
