Construction Project Engineer

*Project Engineer* *Location: *Austin, TX *Position Overview:* We're working with an established commercial general contractor that has been building for more than 40 years and is now opening an office in Austin. They work on tenant improvements, ground-up commercial buildings, medical office, life sciences and mixed-use projects. This role is for a project engineer with 2 to 4 years at a commercial GC who's ready for more ownership. You won't do any design. The work is reading plans, managing RFIs and submittals, estimating and budgeting, and staying involved from preconstruction through closeout. If you're detail oriented and want to see how the whole project fits together, this is a strong next step. *Responsibilities:* * Support the Project Manager and Superintendent on commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout * Review drawings, specifications and contract documents across architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical scopes * Manage RFIs, submittals and shop drawings, and keep project logs and records accurate * Assist with estimating, budgeting and cost tracking, including change orders and their cost impact * Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers * Support project schedules and flag conflicts early * Help manage permitting with municipalities and design teams * Coordinate inspections and testing, and help resolve field issues *Qualifications:* * 2 to 4 years of project engineer experience with a commercial general contractor * Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering or a related field * Hands-on experience reading plans and managing RFIs and submittals * Estimating and budgeting experience, with strong attention to detail * Ground-up commercial project experience * Bonus: Tenant improvement experience * Bonus: Autodesk Construction Cloud and Procore *Why This Role Stands Out:* * You'll be one of the first people in a new Austin office, backed by a contractor with decades of history * You'll work across the full project, including preconstruction, not just document control * Estimating and budgeting are part of the job, which builds a direct path toward Project Manager * The team is small, so your work gets noticed * Performance-based bonus * Commercial project mix that includes TI, ground-up, medical office and life sciences Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year Benefits: * Dental insurance * Health insurance * Vision insurance Application Question(s): * Will you now, or in the future, require sponsorship for employment visa status?
