IC Design Engineer
Coherent analog Integrated Circuits ASIC group designs physical layer ICs for high-speed fiber optic data communication and other applications. This group has delivered over one billion ICs over the past 25 years solving the tough bandwidth challenges the Data Center, Metro and Long-Haul optical transceiver markets continuously face.As a member of the team, you will be responsible for transistor level design of CMOS and BiCMOS ICs within our design group in Champaign IL, USA.Coherent is seeking an IC design engineer who will design and layout analog / mixed-signal circuits for diverse applications such as advanced optical transceivers and other electro-optical systems.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the development of best-in-class integrated circuits from concept to productionAssist in the evaluation of prototype silicon in close collaboration with the application and characterization teamSupport IC qualification and transition to mass productionCollaborate with corporate cross-functional teams on advanced developmentsEducation & Experience* B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with three years of work experience, or M.Sc. and/or PhD in Electrical Engineering* Hands-on experience with the design of wireless and/or wireline communication circuitsSkillsSolid understanding and experience in designing circuits in CMOS and SiGe BICMOSDesign of RF/analog and mixed-signal systems/architectures and building blocks from concept to transistor-level implementationExperience with Cadence IC design tools such as Virtuoso, Spectre, PVS, EMX, QuantusSolid understanding and hands-on experience in critical custom integrated circuit layoutExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent teamwork skills and strong independenceSelf-motivated with innovative thinkingWilling to relocate to Champaign IL, USAWorking Conditions* 40-hour work week, hybrid work, (min 3 days on-site) is an option.* Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, carrying out multiple projects at a time.Physical RequirementsRegular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary.Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or in meetings.Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks.Ability to communicate verbally and in writingSafety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
