The individual may also be involved in assisting in building prototype products and performing various electrical and environmental tests.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneDuties/ResponsibilitiesCarry out product inspections and document findings following QA guidance.Assemble prototype models based on engineering documentation and guidance from Senior Technicians or Engineers.Set up standard test apparatus or test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototypes and production models under the guidance of a Senior Technician or Engineer.Analyze and interpret test data along with identifying next steps to be taken.Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components along with recording effects on device performance.Write basic technical reports and develop charts, graphs, and basic schematics to describe and illustrate an item’s operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations.Verify functionality of newly designed products performance under actual operating conditions.Perform electrical and mechanical assembly of factory test station equipment.Perform basic failure analysis, record results and provide corrective actions.Run experiments under the guidance of an engineer.Skills And CompetenciesExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of managementExcellent organizational skills with attention-to-detailAbility to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to effectively manage time and prioritize tasksAbility to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentialityProficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to multi-task is essentialAbility to solder small wires and larger SMT components to PC BoardsAbility to use measuring and diagnostic equipment, such DVMs, and oscilloscopesUnderstanding of failure analysis, corrective, and preventative action techniquesAbility to perform tests and keep accurate recordsAbility to learn new technologies and techniquesEducation, Experience, And Licenses/CertificationsAssociate’s degree or 2 plus years’ experience of equivalent technical workGeneral understanding of electrical principles and terminologyExperience with spectrum analyzers and network analyzers, and other electrical laboratory measurement equipment a plusPhysical RequirementsWillingness and ability to travel as neededWillingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as neededAbility to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)Ability to operate the equipment used for the jobAbility to lift 15 pounds at timesReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this jobMarginal FunctionsA review of this job description may have omitted some of the marginal functions of the position that are incidental to the performance of the job duties and responsibilities.
