Title: Machine BuilderLocation: Elgin, IL 60123Type: Direct HireShift: 1st ShiftPay: $28–32/hr + OvertimeOverview:We are seeking an experienced Machine Builder to join our team in Elgin. This role is responsible for building, assembling, and installing custom equipment based on engineering drawings, work orders, and material lists. The position includes hands-on fabrication work in-house, along with up to 20% travel to customer sites for installation, troubleshooting, and modifications. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with mechanical systems and has exposure to electrical and pneumatic components.Key Responsibilities: Execute machine assembly based on prints, layouts, and work instructionsVerify accuracy of parts and materials prior to assemblyBuild sub-assemblies including measuring, drilling, tapping, deburring, and finishing componentsPerform mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic connections per specificationsAssemble and mount components such as seals, gaskets, and conduit onto final equipmentMeasure, cut, thread, and install conduit as neededTroubleshoot and repair equipment; replace or fabricate parts when necessaryModify and improve existing machinery using hand tools and shop equipment (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)Interpret and mark up engineering drawings; document progress and escalate issues as neededTravel to customer sites (up to 20%) for installation, service, and equipment modificationsOperate equipment including forklifts, hoists, and fabrication machineryMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work environmentSupport general shop and facility needs; regularly lift up to 50 lbsQualifications: 5+ years of experience in machine building, mechanical assembly, or fabricationAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and layoutsStrong mechanical aptitude with hands-on tool experienceExperience with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipmentComfortable working at heights (ladders, lifts)Must provide own basic tool set (standard and metric tools)Stainless steel welding experience is a plusElectrical assembly or electrician background is preferredQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
