Data Steward

Key ResponsibilitiesData Classification & ValidationReview and validate Microsoft Purview scan results for PII/PHI across prioritized production databasesManually confirm accuracy of classifications by querying source systems (SQL)Identify false positives, false negatives, and classification gapsApply defined rules and patterns consistently to establish a known-good baselineBaseline Establishment & DocumentationCompare scan outputs against validated results to determine accuracy levelsDocument validated findings and exceptions clearly for downstream remediation teamsContribute to a prioritized backlog of classification improvements and rule enhancementsSupport creation of repeatable validation artifacts used for audit and MMC responsesGovernance & Stewardship SupportOperate within defined data governance policies, stewardship guidelines, and escalation pathsWork closely with existing Data Stewards, Governance leads, DBAs, and Security teamsParticipate in sprint-based execution (Jira) and regular working sessionsProvide transparent status updates on progress, risks, and blockersRequired Skills & QualificationsTechnical SkillsStrong SQL skills (querying, filtering, validating data across schemas and databases)Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server preferred)Ability to analyze large datasets using SQL, spreadsheets, or PythonFamiliarity with data classification concepts (PII, PHI, sensitive data types)Experience working with data quality tools like Purview or Privasera
