Optomi, in partnership with an incubation of one of the top cybersecurity venture capital firms is seeking a Junior Software Engineer. This Junior Software Engineer implement features and bug fixes across the backend and/or frontend with guidance from senior engineers. This Junior Software Engineer will have 0-2+ years of experience and support day-to-day engineering work: debugging, small refactors, CI failures, and developer tooling.What the Right Candidate Will Enjoy:Working alongside experienced engineers who are committed to mentorship, knowledge sharing, and helping you grow your technical skills.Building real-world features across a modern TypeScript technology stack, including backend APIs, frontend applications, and cloud-based infrastructure.Gaining hands-on experience with the full software development lifecycle by contributing to production code from day one.Collaborating in an Agile environment where you'll participate in code reviews, planning sessions, and technical discussions while continuously learning.Growing into ownership of larger features and expanding your expertise across backend development, frontend development, APIs, databases, and cloud technologies.Experience of the Right Candidate:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience through internships, bootcamps, personal projects, or open-source contributions.0–2 years of software development experience with a solid foundation in JavaScript or TypeScript.Familiarity with modern web development technologies such as React, Node.js, or similar frameworks, along with an understanding of web application fundamentals.Basic experience working with SQL or relational databases, Git version control, and software development best practices through coursework, projects, or internships.Eagerness to learn modern technologies such as NestJS, Next.js, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, AI/LLM integrations, and cloud-based application development.Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:Develop and enhance frontend and backend features by implementing well-scoped functionality, fixing bugs, and writing clean, maintainable TypeScript code.Create and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure application quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability.Support integrations with internal services and external APIs while assisting with debugging, refactoring, and day-to-day engineering tasks.Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, standups, and collaborative development activities while documenting solutions and continuously expanding technical knowledge.Grow into ownership of larger application components, including APIs, data models, user interfaces, and cloud-based services as experience and responsibilities increase.
