Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description SummaryThe Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining mechanical equipment throughout the facility in a safe and productive manner. This is a full- time, non-exempt, union position and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The ideal candidate must be willing to become a Bargaining Unit Member of the IBEW Local 614. This position is located in Philadelphia, PA. The compensation for this position is $47.69 - $54.23 per hour plus a 10% bonus target.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and repair rotating equipmentPerform routine maintenance functions as required to facilitate the operation of the plantPerform periodic preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with plant operating and safety proceduresInstall, repair, align and troubleshoot high pressure centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, pneumatic and electrical controls equipment, steam distribution equipment including piping, pressure reducing values, steam traps, steam boiler auxiliaries and expansion jointsMay be required to work scheduled and emergency overtime and on occasion night shiftBasic QualificationsHigh School diploma or GEDMinimum 2 years' experience working as a Maintenance Mechanic in a power plant, refinery, or other industrial plant settingMust be able to understand and willing to accept verbal and written instructions from supervisors in EnglishPreferred QualificationsVo-tech, post high school certificate or completion of apprenticeship in one or more tradesDegree in Machine Tool Technology is desirableOther QualificationsExperience working on high pressure steam boilers and associated balance of plant equipmentKnowledge of industrial centrifugal chillersKnowledge on inspections and preventive maintenance of combustion and steam turbines and auxiliariesKnowledge of centrifugal and screw type air compressors and driersExperience with Lock Out Tag OutExcellent analytical and mechanical skills installing and servicing machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and IOM manualsDemonstrated proficiency in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of rotating equipmentKnowledge of and experience with laser alignment tools, milling equipment, calipers, micrometers, etcAbility to complete routine paperwork and work orders with computer inputMust possess knowledge of the alignment of rotating equipment, safe rigging procedures, and mechanical and structural systemsCooperates and works well with fellow employees of all levelsPhysical RequirementsMust submit to company provided pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.Ability to tolerate confined spaces, to hear and detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and hear portable radio communicationAble to lift up to fifty (50) pounds unassistedAble to climb and tolerate operational heightsAble to tolerate and work outdoors and in higher-than-normal temperatures indoorMust possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.
