Job Description Job SummaryThe Data Center Technician I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the installation and build-out of data center infrastructure and equipment. This position is well suited for candidates with backgrounds in construction, skilled trades, or mechanical work who are looking to transition into the data center industry. The technician assists with cable installation, rack and equipment setup, fiber and copper termination, and infrastructure assembly while following safety standards and installation documentation. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow blueprints and technical instructions, and the ability to work in a physically active environment.Job ResponsibilitiesInstall cable infrastructure and perform fiber rough-in within the data center environmentPerform cable management including dressing, routing, and labeling fiber and copper cablingTerminate fiber and copper cables according to installation standardsRack and stack customer equipment within server cabinets and racksAssist with server rack build-outs and maintain rack elevation documentationInstall fiber trays, ladder racks, cabinets, and customer equipmentSupport infrastructure installations including cable management systems, fiber tray systems, ladder racks, and power traysReceive materials, verify inventory, and assist with hardware assemblyPerform Outside Plant (OSP) installation work including running fiber into the data center facilityRead and follow blueprint drawings and installation documentationCommunicate professionally with team members, supervisors, and managementFollow all jobsite safety guidelines including proper use of PPE, maintaining clean work areas, and adhering to OSHA standardsJob RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED equivalency0–2 years of experience in a data center technician role or related technical environmentEntry-level candidates welcomeExperience in construction, skilled trades, mechanical work, telecommunications installation, or related hands-on technical environments preferredPrior experience working with tools, installation projects, or facility operations is beneficialActive OSHA 10 certification preferredAbility to read and follow installation drawings, blueprints, and written instructionsAbility to work on ladders or scissor lifts and in confined spaces when requiredAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and move equipment up to 75 poundsAbility to stand and remain on feet for extended periods during the work shiftBasic hand tools required including screwdriver (multi-bit), tape measure, snips, pliers (needle nose and channel lock), punch down tool, flashlight, tool pouch, gloves, and steel toe or composite toe work bootsBenefitsHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insurance401(k)Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)Standard shift begins at 6:00 AMOvertime and weekend work may be required based on project schedulesTravel may be required depending on project locationWhen travel is required, flights and lodging will be covered and a $50 daily per diem will be provided for meals and incidental expensesCompany Description FieldLink is a network infrastructure staffing company helping people find rewarding careers in the Telecom and Low Voltage Industry.
