Manpower Engineering is partnering with a leader in ergonomic solutions for a Supplier Quality Engineer. Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer Location: Eagan, MN (Hybrid – 3 days onsite/week) Pay: $38 - $42/hour Duration: 8 Month Contract (potential to go perm) Job Function Summary: Supplier Quality Engineers work with a wider team of professionals with the overall aim of making sure that our supply chain produces components and products that are safe, reliable, and meet customer expectations while keeping the internal and supply chain manufacturing processes as effective and cost-efficient as possible. Supplier Quality Engineers work together with various stakeholders, at every part of the design, procurement, and manufacturing process such as: Design teams – leading first article, FMEA, PFMEA, process planning, and out of box audits to ensure product durability and identify areas of weakness. Supplier teams – conducting supplier audits, qualifying, and working with suppliers to ensure raw materials and component parts meet the company’s quality standards via PPAP and on-going quality monitoring. Manufacturing teams – designing in-process controls, quality checkpoints, and PFMEA to ensure that equipment and processes meet predetermined quality standards Customer teams – analyzing issues reported via customer feedback, determining root cause, and implementing and communicating changes to suppliers, inspection, or manufacturing as necessary As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will create quality processes and documentation to ensure products and processes from suppliers meet technical standards. Supplier Quality Engineers are responsible for identifying technical issues and getting to the root cause of problems. They proactively recommend solutions to improve product durability and overall performance. Supplier Quality Engineers also improve processes across the supply chain. They execute quality objectives to support customers, industry, and corporate requirements. Supplier Quality Engineers continuously improve the organization’s quality system and promote improvements in quality principles and practices across a fast paced, rapidly changing supply chain environment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Participate in cross-functional product development teams, analyze test data, and lead product and process quality reviews to ensure new products and product enhancements meet customer, corporate, and industry requirements for safety and efficacy Perform root cause analysis and implement, review, and close effective corrective and preventive actions on product nonconformance situations with suppliers, assembly, and customers to be sure action taken was effective and commensurate for the situation Advocate quality system and applicable standards to assure compliance with the company quality policy and system and all pertinent regulatory requirements, maintain tactical quality metrics to monitor ongoing product and process quality, and lead quality improvement teams to continuously improve the ISO 9001 / 14001 / 13485 Quality Management System Review and develop domestic and international suppliers using business system surveys, on-site evaluations, supplier scorecards, and product specific control plans to ensure supplier products, processes, and systems can deliver to contract requirements Support Design and Sourcing on material cost reduction for domestic and international suppliers, assist in the identification of capable new suppliers, and work with suppliers and Design Engineers on product enhancements and deviation activities Lead material review boards to ensure product dispositions meet customer requirements and do not compromise company quality standards in the short and long term Monitor and proactively control for product safety and efficacy through the use of failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), product design reviews, and design validation testing (D/MVT) Design project specific quality plans that prove out the efficacy of the product design, manufacturing processes, and tooling and review and approve all product releases to ensure product input requirements meet or exceed product output performance Organize, facilitate, and promote projects in the area of continuous improvement Utilize analytical / statistical tools & methods to make data-based decisions. Statistical tools include A3, 8D, Problem Definition, Data Collection, Brainstorming, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Cause & Effect, Error Proofing, Variation Analysis, SPC, MSA, and DOE Some travel as needed to perform business system audits and new product qualifications Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, with 2+ years of demonstrated quality / process engineering / Lean continuous improvement results Proven track record in working with corporate personnel, suppliers, and customers on quality engineering topics. Experience working in ISO/QS/TS type quality systems and Lean environments required. Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean champion is preferred. Good problem solver with the ability to rapidly handle change in a progressive and growing organization. Experience in a fast paced, manufacturing environment with new product development containing mechanical, electrical, and software elements is preferred. Candidate must have a solid understanding of statistical methods and their application to product or process engineering. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are a must. The candidate must have experience with typical quality gauges, instrumentation, and engineering drawings. Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external resources. Well-developed written/verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal relations and team skills Strong Microsoft Suite skills are required. Experience with Power BI software is preferred.
