Commercial Construction Estimator
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate project estimates, analyzing project plans and specifications, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure successful project execution. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, cost control, and contract management, with the ability to deliver competitive bids that align with project budgets and timelines. The estimator will play a crucial role in securing new business and supporting the company's growth in the commercial construction sector.
Responsibilities
Review and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop comprehensive estimates.
Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed cost proposals.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, subcontractors, and clients to gather accurate pricing information.
Perform quantity take-offs, pricing analysis, and cost control assessments to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing and terms.
Prepare bid packages, contracts, and scope of work documentation in accordance with project requirements.
Assist in developing project schedules and resource planning to support accurate estimating.
Monitor industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to maintain up-to-date knowledge for precise estimates.
Support project management teams during project execution by providing cost analysis and change order evaluations.
Skills
Proficiency in Bluebeam, HeavyBid, and other construction estimating software tools.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
Extensive knowledge of construction estimating processes, including quantity take-offs, cost control, and pricing strategies.
Experience with construction site operations, management practices, and contract administration.
Excellent understanding of construction management principles, project planning, and scheduling.
Ability to interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and contractual documents.
Effective communication skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders across multiple projects.
