Candidates without an active PLS license will not be considered.About The RoleFEI is seeking a Senior Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to serve in a leadership-level Senior Survey Project Manager role within our land development surveying practice. This position combines technical oversight, people leadership, financial accountability, and business development support.This is a senior, licensed position responsible not only for project delivery, but also for mentoring staff, managing multiple crews, and helping guide the growth and direction of the surveying department.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Department SupportSupport the Survey Director in executing departmental goals, strategies, and business plansAssist with business development, marketing efforts, and client relationship building (including occasional after-hours events)Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, employee development, and issue resolutionPromote ethics, teamwork, safety, and FEI core valuesProject & Technical Oversight Oversee multiple land development surveying projects simultaneouslyAnalyze field data and research to prepare and review:Boundary surveysALTA/NSPS and loan surveysConstruction layoutTopographic surveysAs-built surveys and final platsInterpret engineering drawings and coordinate horizontal and vertical survey controlEnsure technical accuracy, quality control, and compliance with standards of practiceOperations & Financial ManagementSchedule and manage multiple survey crews to maximize utilization and efficiencySupervise survey office staff supporting project deliveryAssist with project scoping, budgets, and schedulesMonitor financial performance, billing accuracy, and timesheets across projectsCoordinate equipment, vehicles, and operational needs as requiredRequired Qualifications Active North Carolina Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licenseMinimum of 4 years of progressively responsible land surveying experience, including:BoundaryALTA/NSPSConstruction layoutTopographic surveyingProficiency with AutoCAD and Carlson in a surveying environmentExperience with Topcon and/or Leica survey equipment and data collectorsProven leadership, communication, and organizational skillsValid North Carolina Driver’s LicensePreferred QualificationsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related fieldExperience managing multiple crews and mentoring staffFamiliarity with Ajera or similar project/financial management systemsWork Environment & ScheduleOffice-based positionMon–Thu: 7:30am–5:30pm | Fri: 7:30am–11:30amWhy FEISenior leadership role with real influence on department directionStable, established land development client baseRelationship-driven culture built on accountability and integrityPredictable schedule and long-term career opportunityPre-Employment RequirementAll candidates receiving an offer must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening per FEI Health and Safety requirements.🚫 Recruiter NoticeDirect applicants only.
