Job SummaryPosition: Manheim Mobile Inspector II (Individual Contributor). Work location: must live in the specified city, state, or region. Flexible work option: can work remotely. Travel: 100% required. Compensation: hourly base pay rate of $16.59 – $24.86 per hour (may vary). Eligible for additional compensation such as commission, monthly incentives, and incentive programs.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct a thorough vehicle inspection and document overall vehicle condition according to Manheim inspection parameters.
Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer/clients’ lot safely.
Verify vehicle identification and enter accurate vehicle information into the inspection system (VIN, mileage, sub‑series).
Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting results including damage, missing or inoperable items.
Inspect and record vehicle exterior condition (tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components).
Inspect and record vehicle interior condition (seats, dashboard, options).
Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles (powertrain, drivetrain, electrical components).
Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management.
Pivot and adapt to changes in daily appointments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of each dealer visit.
Develop strong knowledge of clients in the territory and work with partners to keep them active through regular, proactive on‑lot engagement.
Receive data and insight from partners and leverage to maximize volume of units inspected on dealer lots.
Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador and provide a premier client experience.
Collaborate with the Wholesale Specialist team, peers, other Manheim workgroups and auctions.
Utilize Salesforce.com for reporting, lead input, and customer performance reviews.
Understand the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.
Work in a continuous improvement/Lean environment and drive a lean culture.
Maintain production expectations set by the leader.
Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures.
Actively participate in safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field (or 5+ years with a higher degree or certification).
Automotive knowledge preferred, including body and mechanical.
1–2 years of any automotive related experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
Travel 100% required; reliable transportation and reimbursement program dependent on miles driven.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong technical aptitude and detail orientation.
Experience navigating handheld and other documentation devices preferred.
Motivated to work independently with remote supervision.
Ability to multitask, follow directions, and take instruction.
Body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge helpful.
Familiarity with unibody and full‑frame helpful.
Ability to lift and hold at least 30 lbs at waist level for an extended period; able to stand, walk, talk, and hear regularly; frequently required to crouch, bend, kneel, lift hood or trunk, bend while performing audits, reach inside or under a vehicle, and use near vision to find damage.
