Maintenance Mechanic II (Food Production)
The Maintenance Mechanic II performs daily maintenance on FOOD PROCESSING MACHINERY, daily change overs, monthly preventative maintenance, repair, periodic service, fabrication, and problem analysis on complex specialized equipment, preventing down time. Able to follow direction verbal and written to perform tasks as directed by their lead mechanic.
The mechanic is highly knowledgeable in a vast array of equipment operations, fabrication, design, and modification of equipment
Proficient in all aspects of working with stainless steel. Excellent stainless-steel welding skills as well as other metals including aluminum is preferred
Experienced in Fitting and welding complex pieces
Conducts root cause analysis to correct weaknesses and lengthen equipment life
Performs equipment diagnosis and repairs including repairing, replacing, adjusting, and maintaining parts and components of all types and sizes of complex light and heavy duty equipment including mechanical equipment, tanks, piping, pumps and cylinders
Much of the Equipment is European therefore parts are expensive and downtime waiting for parts can be extensive. Preventative maintenance is very important; as is excellent fabrication skills
Designs parts and complex systems for fabrication, modification and/or replacement
Uses sophisticated tools and machinery to perform the work including a CNC machine, metal lathe and milling machine. The Sr. Mechanic will deal with tight tolerances of five thousandth
Welds using TIG, MIG, arc, gas, and argon on small, intricate and complex pieces and a variety of metals including stainless steel and aluminum
Makes equipment more user friendly and easier to clean, saving time and helping to ensure proper food safety sanitation and reducing possible problems involved with disassembling equipment
Requirements:
2+ years of food production maintenance experience in an industrial environment
A mechanical aptitude along with experience with all hand tools, standard power tools for metal and wood working, basic machining tools including taps and dies, measuring devices including calipers and micrometers is required
Previous Lock out tag out, Hot work permit, Confined Space Awareness, Chemical Hazard Communication, and Food Safety experience is a plus
