Lead Control Systems Engineer (San Antonio, TX)

Job Title: Lead Control Systems EngineerWork Location: San Antonio, TXEducation/Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or related Technical Degree; 3+ years of experience in related field/industryJob Description & Responsibilities:Lead Control Systems Engineers oversee the design and execution of Power and Energy Automation projects, ensuring successful delivery from concept through commissioning.Team Leadership & Sales Support:Offer technical direction while contributing to project leadershipDelegate responsibilities and coordinate tasks across the project teamSupport change order development by estimating hardware needs and engineering effort tied to scope adjustmentsBuild and sustain strong relationships with existing clientsInstrumentation & Electrical Design:Develop instrument lists based on P&ID reviewsAssess instrumentation requirements and choose suitable devicesSelect appropriate control hardware for each applicationPrepare submittal packages for instrumentation and control componentsDesign control panel layouts and create electrical schematicsSource and procure required hardwareProvide guidance to panel fabrication teamsReview and verify completed control panelsSystem Design and Configuration:Facilitate customer design review sessionsDevelop and configure PLC and/or DCS control strategiesDesign and implement HMI and user interface displaysPerform internal testing for functionality and quality assuranceProduce system documentationSupport customer demonstrations and factory acceptance testingOn-Site System Startup:Deploy software and system configurations at customer sitesConduct point-to-point I/O and loop verification for instrumentationPerform calibration and tuning of control systemsExecute full system functional testingDiagnose and resolve installation or integration issuesAssist with additional customer validation activitiesImplement field modifications when neededTrain end users on system operation and maintenanceWorking Conditions:Travel to various facilities for installation, commissioning, service, and troubleshooting is requiredMay involve non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support continuous operationsSkills & Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent technical certification)Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experienceControls Platform Experience (at least one of the following):Rockwell Automation: FactoryTalk Suite, RSLogix/Studio 5000, familiarity with PlantPAx DCSAVEVA System PlatformInductive Automation IgnitionDistech Controls: BACnet/LON systems and Eclypse controllersAdditional Preferred Experience:Johnson Controls (Facility Explorer, Metasys)Siemens systems (Apogee/PXC, Talon, DXR, Desigo CC, Insight)Tridium Niagara N4SQL databasesScripting languages such as VBA or PythonFamiliarity with Kepware OPC, ThinManager, and VMwareFor more information or to view other opportunities, visit us atPaladin Consulting is an EEOC employer.
