What You'll Do:Architect the Future: Dive deep into our current database setup, uncover opportunities for innovation, and design the next-generation data architecture that drives our platform forward.Explore New Frontiers: Stay ahead of industry trends, test out the latest tech, and develop strategies that align our data systems with Species360’s ambitious goals.Build and Automate: Develop scalable data pipelines that collect, process, and store data from diverse sources, ensuring seamless integration and transformation through automation.Integrate and Lead: Take charge of data integration, from sourcing and ETL processes to designing API strategies that enhance our platform's capabilities.Collaborate Creatively: Work closely with cross-functional teams, guiding them through architectural visions and database strategies, and turning feedback into forward-thinking solutions.Optimize and Govern: Ensure our databases are not just efficient but future-proof, optimizing performance and maintaining data quality through robust governance practices. What We’re Looking For:Minimum of 3 years of proven data engineering experience. A creative thinker who’s eager to explore and experiment with new database technologies.Proven experience in data architecture and software design, especially within SaaS platforms.A collaborative spirit with strong leadership skills and the ability to guide a team towards innovative solutions.A tech enthusiast who’s always up-to-date on the latest trends and ready to test and implement new tools and patterns.Strong communication skills to convey complex data concepts in a clear and engaging way. We are the predominant non-profit organization serving zoo, aquarium, botanical garden, and related conservation organizations’ animal and plant management needs through our Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) and Hortis software. Our members include diverse institutions around the world who use our software to record data on wildlife. This critical data enables them to provide world-class care for their animals. Compensation The compensation for this exempt position is $130,000 based on experience. Our US Benefits We offer generous time off benefits, combining holidays and vacation into one Paid Time Off benefit for maximum employee flexibility. You start accruing PTO at 5 weeks per year. In addition, we provide 10 paid sick days plus 8 weeks of paid parenting leave. We offer medical, dental, life, short term and long term disability insurance, and an HSA plan with employer contributions. You can contribute to our 401(k) plan immediately at hire, which includes a generous employer contribution to all employees. We provide a one-time office set-up stipend for home office equipment and supplies and a monthly technology stipend in addition to providing required technology and computer.
