Mobile Engineering ManagerJob SummaryThe Mobile Engineering Manager leads a small team of iOS and Android engineers building marketing and connected-product applications. This hands-on, player-coach role combines people leadership, technical direction, software development, and delivery ownership.The ideal candidate has shipped production mobile software and understands integrations across APIs, cloud services, databases, connected hardware, and firmware interfaces owned by partner teams.ResponsibilitiesLead, coach, and develop a team of iOS and Android engineers while fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.Own technical direction, roadmap planning, prioritization, and delivery for native and multiplatform mobile applications.Contribute directly through coding, prototyping, code reviews, troubleshooting, and development of complex or high-priority features.Guide architecture and integrations across mobile applications, APIs, cloud services, databases, third-party platforms, connected hardware, and documented firmware interfaces.Partner with product, UX, hardware, firmware, backend, QA, and other teams to deliver reliable mobile and connected-product experiences.Establish standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, app-store releases, security, observability, documentation, and production support.Collaborate with product, engineering, IT, marketing, and other cross-functional teams to understand requirements and communicate timelines.Develop an understanding of organizational processes, product standards, and technical requirements.RequirementsHands-on experience developing and supporting production mobile applications.Experience managing or technically leading engineers, including mentoring, technical direction, and delivery accountability.Strong iOS and/or Android development experience, with working knowledge of the other platform.Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs, including authentication, authorization, error handling, and versioning.Working knowledge of cloud architecture, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and relational or non-relational databases.Experience integrating mobile applications with connected devices through documented communication protocols and firmware interfaces.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Knowledge of modern development practices, including:Source controlAutomated testingCI/CDMonitoring and observabilitySecurityProduction supportPreferred QualificationsMultiplatform development experience with technologies such as:SwiftKotlinSwiftUIJetpack ComposeKotlin MultiplatformFlutterReact NativeConnected-product or IoT experience involving:Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)Wi-FiDevice provisioningDevice configurationTelemetryBackend development experience building APIs, cloud services, and data solutions for mobile or connected-product applications.Experience integrating identity platforms, push notifications, marketing technologies, and other third-party services.Leadership & CultureDemonstrates strong teamwork and collaboration.Builds trust and maintains a positive working environment.Communicates candidly and effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Demonstrates strong problem-solving and relationship-building skills.Works effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Is detail-oriented and able to prioritize work efficiently.Takes ownership of technical decisions, delivery, and outcomes.Encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
