Dental AssistantThe Dental Assistant provides chairside assistance to dentists and supports patient care, imaging, sterilization, administrative tasks, and patient education in the dental clinic setting.Key ResponsibilitiesChairside Assisting:Prepare dental operatories and surgical suitesPass instruments efficiently during proceduresMaintain clear operative fields and retract tissuePrepare dental materials and medicamentsAssist in general and specialized dental proceduresDental Imaging:Take diagnostic dental radiographsApply dental imaging safety protocolsEnsure high-quality images and minimize retakesInfection Control:Set up and break down treatment roomsSterilize dental instruments according to standardsFollow infection control protocolsClerical Duties:Assist with scheduling appointmentsMaintain patient records and treatment documentationHelp manage cancellations and schedule gapsPatient Care:Monitor patient condition during treatmentProvide post-operative instructionsSupport patient identification and safety protocolsLaboratory Duties:Pour dental impressionsPrepare study modelsAssist with denture trays and bite rimsDental assistants also help maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and safety standards.Required QualificationsCompletion of a CODA-accredited Dental Assistant program (minimum 1 year)Minimum 1 year of Dental Assistant experienceDental Radiology CertificationCurrent BLS or CPR certificationValid Tuberculosis (TB) testAbility to assist in specialty procedures such as:Oral surgeryEndodonticsPeriodonticsProsthodonticsImplant placement/restoration
