Manager, Interconnection Execution EngineeringLocation: Remote (U.S. East Coast preferred) or HybridEmployment Type: Full-TimeAbout the OpportunityA leading independent renewable energy developer and owner/operator of utility-scale battery energy storage projects is seeking a Manager, Interconnection Execution Engineering to join its growing Project Development team.This is an opportunity to play a critical role in delivering grid-scale energy storage projects from executed Interconnection Agreement (IA) through engineering, construction, commissioning, and commercial operation. The company has a strong development pipeline across multiple U.S. markets and offers a collaborative, fast-paced environment with significant growth opportunities.Position OverviewThis role serves as the technical lead for transmission and interconnection execution throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, EPC contractors, engineering teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure all interconnection obligations are successfully executed after the Interconnection Agreement has been secured.This position is execution-focused rather than queue-management focused and is ideal for someone who has successfully delivered utility-scale renewable or battery storage projects through construction, testing, energization, and commercial operation.ResponsibilitiesLead execution of interconnection requirements following execution of the Interconnection Agreement (IA)Coordinate utility, transmission owner, and ISO/RTO requirements through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and energizationServe as the primary technical liaison with utilities, transmission providers, and regulatory stakeholdersReview engineering packages throughout the design process (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC)Support equipment selection and technical evaluation of major electrical equipmentEnsure compliance with utility standards, NERC requirements, and applicable interconnection obligationsPartner with EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and asset management teams to resolve technical issuesIdentify and mitigate transmission and interconnection risks across active projectsSupport due diligence activities for project acquisitions and pipeline developmentMonitor transmission planning activities, tariff updates, and regulatory developments impacting project executionQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred)4+ years of interconnection execution experience within renewable energy, energy storage, utilities, or transmissionExperience executing generator interconnections from signed IA through commissioning and commercial operationStrong understanding of transmission systems, utility interconnection requirements, and power system operationsExperience working across one or more major ISO/RTO marketsFamiliarity with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and inverter-based resources is highly desirableWorking knowledge of NERC standards and utility compliance requirementsTechnical SkillsPower system modeling using PSS®E, PSLF, TARA, or comparable softwareUtility-scale transmission and distribution systemsGrid integration of renewable generation and energy storageProject management across multiple concurrent projectsStrong understanding of utility tariffs, interconnection procedures, and transmission planningIdeal CandidateWe're looking for someone who:Has successfully executed projects after the Interconnection Agreement is signedUnderstands the engineering and operational requirements necessary to energize utility-scale renewable projectsCan effectively collaborate with utilities, EPC contractors, engineering firms, and internal project teamsIs proactive, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced development environmentEnjoys solving complex technical and project execution challengesTravelApproximately 25% travel to project sites, utility meetings, and industry events.If you have experience delivering renewable energy or battery storage projects from executed IA through commissioning and energization, I'd love to connect.
