Senior Buyer

Summary:Buyer III is an experienced, mid-level position. Purchase materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Daily assignments are varied. Advanced to complex procurement tasks are required. There is latitude for independent judgment.Roles & Responsibilities:Perform Daily purchasing activities Processing Requisitions and Purchase OrdersPerform sourcing, vendor selection and vendor enrollmentResolve purchase price variations with cost accountingCost Analyze - challenge vendor on price increases to obtain the best valueMaintain and update APL records and scorecardsMarket researchRFQ preparation and submittal for projects, equipment, and servicesObtain quotes both sourcing and cost avoidance for daily purchases, and long-term cost savings opportunitiesBid evaluationReview contract terms and conditionsNegotiating Pricing & Terms with and without supervisionCommunicating with the purchasing team and requestors regarding delays or delivery issuesDemand forecasting - Make sound business purchasing decisions to maintain adequate inventory levelsFollows all safety regulationsPerform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Management, or Supply Chain Management, or relevant work experience5+ years of related experienceExperience within the metals industryManufacturing experience is a mustFundamental experience with purchasing; experience with cost savings/purchasing projects.Must understand the difference between cost savings and cost avoidance.Must be proficient with MS Office, especially Excel.Experience with ERP systems; computer proficientMust be a problem solver and have a "can do attitude.Understand financial impacts and able to make complex buying decisions.Understand of total cost of ownershipMust be detail-oriented.Strong interpersonal skillsEffective communication, both oral and writtenOrganizational skillsAbility to work independently, with minimal supervision.Good math skillsAnalytical thinking and problem-solvingWORKING CONDITIONSThis position works in an office environment.This position operates in a manufacturing environmentInvolves: long periods of sitting and/or standing; typing, walkingThis position routinely uses standard office equipment
