Manager - Pathology (Anatomic Pathology/Histology Focus)Location: Baltimore, MDVirtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager to lead the Anatomic Pathology/Histology department at our partner hospital in Baltimore, MD. This role involves overseeing a team of histotechs, cytotechs, and Pathologists' Assistants, while ensuring efficient operations, high-quality diagnostic services, and compliance with regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Management:Develop and implement a comprehensive test menu to meet patient and provider needs while aligning with the hospital's financial and strategic goals.Plan and manage the department's operational budget, providing detailed variance reports and monitoring productivity to ensure efficient staffing and resource utilization.Oversee the recruitment, hiring, orientation, and competency assessment of laboratory staff.Conduct thorough and timely performance evaluations for team members.Identify future departmental needs in terms of equipment, facilities, and staffing, and submit appropriate justifications for procurement.Quality Assurance And ComplianceEnsure the delivery of high-quality laboratory services, adhering to regulatory standards and best practices.Maintain in-depth knowledge of regulatory and billing standards, including technical and professional billing.Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs to maintain the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic results.Leadership & CollaborationAlign testing and services with the hospital's organizational strategies and goals.Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.Participate in interdepartmental collaborations to improve overall patient care.Contribute to the development and implementation of new laboratory services and technologies.QualificationsEducation: Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.Experience: 5-7 years of experience in Anatomic Pathology or Histology, with proven leadership and management skills.CertificationsMT (ASCP)SBB (ASCP)PA (ASCP)Preferred: Experience with Pathology Outreach programs.SkillsStrong understanding of laboratory operations and regulatory compliance.Excellent knowledge of histologic techniques, immunohistochemistry, special stains, and histology automation.Proficiency in AP LIS (Laboratory Information System).Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.Ability to lead and motivate a team.BenefitsCompetitive compensation and benefits package.Opportunities for professional growth and development.Supportive and collaborative work environment.To ApplyIf you are a dedicated and experienced laboratory professional with a passion for leadership and quality patient care, we encourage you to apply today.
