Competition Math Coach - Part-Time, gt.school (Remote) - $37,500/year USD

You've mastered the difficult problems. Now apply that expertise where it matters most: with talented students preparing to compete, qualify, and succeed. GT School serves families seeking outcomes beyond standard academic performance. We develop gifted learners through authentic challenges: competitive events at national and international levels, transparent results, and accomplishments students carry into their futures. This position exists because our mathematics program succeeds only when students emerge from each session more capable, more confident, and fully prepared for competitive environments. This is not a standard tutoring position. You will facilitate live virtual sessions that challenge exceptional students, provide focused preparation for competitions such as AMC and AIME, and develop reusable curriculum materials that elevate standards across GT Anywhere and GT campus programs. If you excel at converting natural ability into documented achievement and can communicate sophisticated concepts with precision, this role will suit you well. If you possess a verified history of mathematical excellence and wish to contribute to developing the next generation of high-performing students, we invite your application. What You Will Be Doing Develop and conduct 2–4 live virtual domain sessions weekly that cultivate competition-grade mathematical reasoning. Provide 1:1 or small-group coaching for particular competitions through mock examinations, timed exercises, and comprehensive analysis. Identify weaknesses quickly and construct individualized development plans aligned with each student's objectives and competition schedule. Monitor advancement using a defined mathematical progression framework and modify teaching methods based on performance data. Produce original, challenging problem collections and modular instructional resources that other educators can implement broadly. What You Won't Be Doing Provide standard homework assistance or grade-focused tutoring lacking defined, quantifiable results. Conduct conventional classroom instruction limited to standard curriculum boundaries. Offer unplanned problem practice sessions without structure, assessment mechanisms, or competitive preparation pathways. Rely on duplicated or insufficient materials that fail to satisfy competitive mathematics standards. Competition Math Coach Key Responsibilities: This position ensures gifted students consistently produce documented, competition-level mathematical achievements that GT School can recognize and families can depend upon. Basic Requirements Documented elite mathematical accomplishment (e.g., Olympiad medal, AIME qualification, top national ranking, or equivalent verifiable achievement). Minimum 6 months of instruction, coaching, or mentorship experience with demonstrable results. Capacity to present advanced mathematical concepts in clear, accessible language to gifted young students. Comprehensive knowledge of mathematics competition structures, content areas, and preparation methods (e.g., AMC, AIME, Olympiads). Effective virtual instruction skills and ability to maintain student engagement through video platforms. Availability for 5–10 hours weekly. Dependable internet connection and professional video equipment. Nice-to-have Requirements Current, ongoing participation as a competitor, coach, or creator of competition-oriented educational content. Background developing reusable instructional libraries, problem collections, or curricula for use by other teachers. Documented student achievements including qualifications, rankings, medals, or other verified competitive results.
