AI Ecosystem EngineerSalary: $275,000 - $325,000 + EquityLocation: San Francisco Bay Area (On-site culture)We're partnering with a fast-scaling leader in the AI web search space to find their first AI Ecosystem Engineer. Our client's platform gives AI agents accurate, auditable, real-time access to the web, and it's already powering agents for enterprise names across financial services, retail, market intelligence, and coding.They've raised over $80M from top-tier institutional investors and count hundreds of enterprise customers among their users.This is a rare opportunity to be the founding hire on a brand-new function: making the platform available everywhere AI developers already build.The RoleYou won't be doing traditional product engineering. Instead, you'll live at the edge of the AI ecosystem, tracking emerging platforms and building the integrations that put this company's tech directly into developers' hands, wherever they're already working. You'll partner closely with Product and Engineering but run this as your own fast-moving remit, owned end to end.What you'll actually be doing:Most of your time:Building integrations across agent frameworks, MCP servers, SDKs, and developer platformsShipping plugins, skills, connectors, templates, and reference apps that show off what the platform can doScouting emerging AI ecosystems and shaping the roadmap for where to integrate nextGetting production-ready integrations out fast, then iterating on developer feedbackBuilding agent tooling that gives developers live web access through the platformRegularly:Contributing to open-source projects, working directly with external maintainersPublishing technical examples and sample appsEngaging developer communities on GitHub, Discord, X, Reddit, Medium, and beyondWorking closely with Product and Engineering to sharpen the developer experienceAs needed:Attending AI community events and hackathonsSupporting strategic technology partnershipsWhat you'll bring:5+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent hands-on background)A track record building AI agents or AI-powered applicationsHands-on experience with frameworks like MCP, LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similarStrong experience building APIs, SDKs, integrations, plugins, or developer toolsExcellent Python (or similar modern language) skillsBackground in prompt engineering, agent workflows, or AI application developmentSolid grounding in web technologies, APIs, browser automation, crawling, scraping, or searchAn active GitHub profile with meaningful public repos or open-source contributionsExperience engaging developer communitiesA bias for speed, experimentation, and shipping oftenStrong product intuition and a developer-first mindsetExcellent written and spoken EnglishInterested, or know someone who'd be a great fit?
