Election Worker
Election WorkerThe Election Worker is a temporary position that performs various duties necessary to support the administration of the 2026 Primary and General Elections. Training dates: June 3rd and June 4th (election workers will attend 1 of the training sessions) Election day: 06/09/2026 - hours are from 7am to 9pm (approximate completion time)
Examples of DutiesThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this position. Incumbents must be able to perform the essential function of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Specific job duties will be assigned based on the needs of the Auditor's Office. Examples of potential job duties include:
Assist voters with questions and direct issues to election officials
Review and update data on electronic poll books
Enter and verify voter identification; produce voter receipts
Cross-check receipt numbers with ballot numbers
Monitor the use of voting equipment; assist with the use of Express Vote (assistive voting machine)
Examine and process absentee return envelopes and ballots
Process absentee ballot applications
Complete required training
Clean and sanitize voting materials, equipment, supplies, and high-traffic areas
Assist with the setup and takedown of the polling place
Typical QualificationsMust be a qualified voter OR qualify as a Student Poll Clerk (16 years or older, United States citizen at the time of the election, residing in the precinct at least 30 days prior to the election, and be in good standing as a student)
Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language
Ability to follow directions, including strict rules and regulations
Basic use of office equipment, including iPad, computer, scanner, copier, and printer
Ability to read maps
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
Ability to perform duties involving walking, standing, and/or sitting for long periods
Ability to lift to 25 pounds
Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as stuffing envelopes, sorting, and filing
Applicant must NOT be related to a candidate in the election (self, husband, wife, father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother, or sister, whether by birth or marriage) Compensation: $20.00/hour
