Controller
The Controller is responsible for all accounting transactions for the Association and related Foundation's accounting transactions with GAAP compliance, managing payroll, budgeting, accounting software/CRM's accounting transactions, intercompany transactions, producing Financial Statements and reporting to the Director, Treasurer and Board. Must be able to work independently on projects from conception to completion and be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities. Must have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to manage a subordinate.RequirementsThe general requirements for this role are as follows:Generate monthly Financial StatementsEOM ClosingPrepare the annual budgeting process and any reports including strategic budgets for long/short term planning for the organizationPrepare financial models and other projects as neededPrepare all general ledger and subsidiary journals, including cash and credit card receipts, cash disbursement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounts, cash flow forecasting, grant administration, and reportingFulfill all annual reporting requirementsManage and approve Payroll, submit 401K contributions, serve as backup Payroll processorProcess W-9, 1099 forms and other forms relevant to the organizationReconcile cash, accounts payable and accounts receivable monthlySupervise cash disbursements on a weekly basisPerform all cash account reconciliations for all bank accountsEnsure cross-reporting integrity of the general ledger and the association's membership management databaseAssist in the annual financial and any other audits as requiredManage payroll and reporting functions on a bi-weekly basisMake cash deposits as neededManage all vendor relationships and resolution of billing issuesManage all insurance policies (workers' compensation, general liability, D&O, etc.)Review and report submissions to all funding partners as requiredMaintain department manualsPerforms all other duties as assignedQualificationsBS/BA degree in Accounting or FinanceMaster's degree in Accounting or Finance OR equivalent experience required5-10 years related experience (preferred)Nonprofit experience (preferred)Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards for 501(c)6 and 501(c)3 organizationsExcellent analytical and organizational skillsExcellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and presentation skillsExcellent Microsoft Office skills requiredKnowledge of QuickBooksAbility to interact with all levels of the organization, including Executive Board membersWillingness to support other departments when work initiatives require itOutstanding organizational and planning abilitiesDetail-oriented and excellent multitaskerEffective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlinesAble to give and receive constructive feedbackSedentary work at a computer with repeating motion of wrist and handsConstant communication with othersLight work/moving objects up to twenty (20) pounds - occasionallyWorkdays over ten (10) hours - occasionallyState Travel for work-related events - occasionallyBenefitsHealth Insurance401(k) Retirement PlanPaid Time OffLife and LTD Insurance
