SQL DBA and System Administrator

Position: SQL Server DBA / System AdministratorDuration: 6 month contract-to-hirePay: $60-70/HRWork Location: Austin, TXRemote: 2x per week, onsite 3x per weekThis position is eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision after 60 days. In addition, this position is eligible to enroll in a 401(k) after 90 days.We're hiring a Database Administrator with strong Windows Server and systems administration experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across database administration, infrastructure support, application administration, and enterprise systems management.This position will support critical business applications and infrastructure in a highly regulated, production-focused environment. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of SQL Server administration, Windows server management, and system troubleshooting expertise.ResponsibilitiesAdminister, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server environmentsMonitor database performance, health, and availabilityPerform database backups, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activitiesSupport Windows Server administration and system operationsInstall, configure, and maintain server-based applications and software platformsDevelop and troubleshoot T-SQL scripts, queries, and stored proceduresAssist with system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planningSupport virtualized infrastructure and cloud-based environmentsCollaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholdersMaintain documentation, operational procedures, and system configurationsParticipate in production deployments and change management activitiesTroubleshoot complex issues across databases, servers, and integrated systemsRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environmentsStrong experience with SQL Server technologies, including database performance tuning and monitoringExperience with T-SQL scripting and SQL Server management toolsExperience administering Microsoft Windows Server environmentsFamiliarity with virtualization technologies such as VMwareExperience with PowerShell or other automation/scripting toolsKnowledge of Active Directory administrationExperience supporting enterprise production environmentsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and documentation skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft AzureExposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD environmentsFamiliarity with SSIS, SSRS, and SSASExperience with system monitoring and performance management toolsIIS administration experienceKnowledge of high-availability and disaster recovery solutionsExposure to container technologies such as Docker or KubernetesExperience working in regulated or compliance-focused environments
