Mechanical Engineer

Responsible for mechanical engineering responsibilities of a given project including system design, project planning, development and tracking of budgets, customer interface, and establishing and monitoring schedules.Job Description:Design and develop electro-mechanical and/or material handling systems in accordance with National codes and standards.Create and modify concept drawings, detailed design, assembly and fabrication drawings, BOMs, O&M manuals, and other related design documentationGenerate 2D and 3D designs using Solid Works.Interact with a cross-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging) to review, define, and design integrated system solutions to meet requirements of worldwide customersAssist Sales Team with system proposals and scope review (concept drawings, costing, etc.)Produce, verify, and review engineering calculations to verify design.Approximately 15% of travel to customer sites worldwide to participate in concept and technical discussions, kick off meetings, oversee installations and troubleshooting issues. Occasional travel to sister facilities located around the world to work with teams on current or future projects, as required.Essential Skills:Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.Minimum of five (5) years of Electro-mechanical and/or mechanical systems design experience.Proficient to expert level of expertise in SolidWorks 3D CAD tool.Working knowledge of pneumatic controls.Experience writing design specifications and working with and creating Bills of Materials (BOMs).Familiarity with automation and motion control products and standard motor/gearbox componentsSuperior written and verbal communication skillsStrong mechanical and electrical aptitude and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent interpersonal skills with well-established written and verbal communication skillsConversant in ERP/MRP system, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPointAbility to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment, capable of prioritization, multi-tasking, and effective organization.Highly organized and self-motivatedMust be a US citizen and able to pass personal background and security checks to obtain clearance on various government and military sitesWill need to successfully pass a drug test and present a clean and valid driver’s licenseMechanical EngineerNon-Essential Skills:Experience with machine tooling disciplines and techniques desirablePrior experience in a QA controlled design environment. (ISO 9000, NQA-1, or similar)Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project preferred, Primavera)X-ray or CT imaging system experienceUnderstanding of nondestructive testing (NDT) concepts.Prior experience working with design team members based in other locations and time zones.Knowledgeable in the fundamentals of Ethernet and networkingFamiliarity with Microsoft AX or D365 ERP system.Exposure to civil works such as construction of concrete buildings.Physical & Mental Demands:Regularly required to sit, walk, bend and stand in industrial, field and office environments.Domestic and International travel via air, rail and car.Will need to repeatedly use hands to finger, handle, feel and operate standard office equipment and possibly basic hand and power tools or other related industrial production equipment.Could be required to lift, move, carry, and/or maneuver materials up to 50 pounds alone; heavier with assistance.May need to work or traverse upon ladders and/or elevated heights with proper safety gear.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.Expected to effectively communicate in person, on phone, and via email and other electronic devices on a continual and repetitive basis.Comfortable working around high-voltage and radiation-generating equipment.Able to fulfill essential job responsibilities in a safe, consistent state of mental acuity and alertness.This position has been deemed a Safety Sensitive position.
