One who is responsible for deploying to hotels and restaurant concepts to oversee, assess, and restore the maintenance and repair of each property's physical infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety systems. They ensure the proper functioning of all building equipment, reduce maintenance backlogs, mentor on-site engineering teams, and coordinate with hotel leadership and vendors to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient operations while following company and brand standards.Core Job Responsibilities & DutiesDeploy to hotels and restaurant concepts to provide temporary engineering leadership coverageAssess mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety systems across assigned propertiesApply strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues quickly and correctlyStabilize daily engineering operations and reduce guestroom Out-of-Order (OOO) inventoryAddress deferred maintenance and preventive maintenance backlogs with urgency and accountabilityEnsure boilers, chillers, cooling towers, hot water systems, and full-service mechanical plants operate efficientlySupport commercial kitchen mechanical systems to ensure operational readinessCoordinate elevator vendor repairs, service contracts, and vendor performance expectationsNegotiate and manage vendors to ensure quality, pricing, and timelines align with operational needsPrepare properties for brand QA inspections and property improvement plansEnsure fire alarm, sprinkler, emergency lighting, and life-safety systems remain compliantMaintain OSHA compliance and a safe working environment for staff and vendorsReview permits, certifications, and vendor documentation to reduce risk and ensure complianceMaintain strong documentation and reporting for work orders, inspections, projects, and compliance logsReview engineering budgets, labor controls, and maintenance-related expensesApply financial acumen and cost-control awareness to identify savings and reduce unnecessary spendIdentify cost-saving opportunities related to utilities, service contracts, and operational efficienciesAssist in CapEx planning, vendor bidding, and validating scope of work for capital projectsWork independently and across multiple properties, prioritizing tasks based on risk and operational impactPerform hands-on maintenance work including standing, lifting, climbing, and physically demanding tasksDemonstrate leadership presence and hands-on mentality in high-need, high-visibility situationsTrain, mentor, and develop property-level maintenance teams, including junior engineersImplement structured PM programs (Quore, HotSOS, or equivalent) and establish sustainable systems before assignment completionEstablish parts inventory control procedures, work order accountability, and response time standardsTravel between properties as needed and provide after-hours/emergency response support when requiredQualification Standards & Company RequirementsAbility to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment10+ years hotel engineering experienceExperience in both full-service and select-service hotel environmentsStrong HVAC and electrical backgroundExperience operating full-service mechanical plantsExperience with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and commercial kitchen systems preferredVendor negotiation and contract management experienceAbility to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manualsStrong documentation and reporting skillsComfortable training and mentoring junior engineersOSHA knowledge requiredEPA/HVAC certification preferredCPO certification preferredElevator and life-safety system coordination experience strongly preferredAbility to travel frequently and work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays*Please note that specific job requirements and responsibilities may vary depending on the company's policies, size, and other factors*Powered by JazzHR
