Adjunct instructors provide student-centered instruction, advising and support on a course-by-course basis.Position OverviewGateway Technical College invites applicants who are committed to higher education and to empowering individuals to achieve academic and career goals that lead to a competent workforce.Adjunct faculty are temporary, part-time instructors hired to provide instruction, student advising and student support. Courses are assigned based on departmental needs and are subject to student enrollment.Unless otherwise indicated, courses are delivered in a traditional face-to-face format on campus and not online. This instructor reports to the Dean, School of Manufacturing, Engineering, Information Technology & Business Workforce Solutions.What You Will DoPlan and Deliver InstructionPlan and teach courses that fulfill current curriculum goals and objectives.Prepare a course syllabus that includes course requirements, attendance requirements and grading criteria.Adhere to class schedules and meet attendance standards.Remain current in practices, trends and research related to the assigned area of appropriate assessment techniques to measure student progress toward course goals and objectives.Support Student SuccessAssess student performance and advise students on academic issues.Identify students who need additional instruction to successfully complete course objectives.Provide additional instruction to students as needed.Check email or Brightspace for student rosters and other required confidentiality regarding student to the College CommunityParticipate in college, campus and department evaluation processes.Attend adjunct faculty meetings as scheduled.Interact constructively with resident faculty.Promote the education and training program.Participate in efforts to recruit and retain students and market with college policies, procedures and department guidelines.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required of the employee.
