Design Engineer
Salary : $90,000 — $100,000
Summary
The Design Engineer transforms product concepts into detailed sheet metal designs using SolidWorks Pro, producing kiosk solutions that balance form, function, and manufacturability. This role requires deep expertise in mechanical engineering, especially with sheet metal, and strong collaboration across Sales, Design, and Manufacturing teams.
Essential Duties
Partner with Sales and design teams to define form, function, and environmental requirements
Translate general product concepts into fully detailed sheet metal designs using SolidWorks Pro
Create complete 3D models including fasteners, subassemblies, and component integration
Generate fabrication-ready documentation: drawings, weldment guides, and CNC-compatible files
Modify legacy designs for updated components or improved documentation accuracy
Estimate time and resources required for design tasks and communicate status to project leads
Manage product configurations in SolidWorks PDM Pro
Support manufacturing through design clarifications and DFM improvements
Incorporate manufacturing feedback to streamline build processes
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) are required for this position:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience using SolidWorks Pro in a professional setting
Proficiency in sheet metal design principles (preferred), including:
Bend radii and k-factors
Press brake operation limits
Welding methods, terminology, and drawing symbols
Material properties (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) and common fasteners
Language
Fluent in English
Able to read and interpret complex technical documents and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Mathematical
Competence in advanced algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; familiarity with statistical or engineering math a plus
Reasoning
Strong problem-solving ability across abstract and real-world design variables
Able to interpret technical data and adapt designs for manufacturability and cost-efficiency
Computer
Proficiency in SolidWorks Pro and PDM Pro
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., ABAS or equivalent)
Tools and Equipment
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, copier/scanner)
Measuring tools (ruler, tape measure, caliper)
Common hand and power tools (drill, screwdriver, wrench, pliers)
Soft Skills
