Paid overtime may be available.JOB SUMMARYAs a Mechanical Design Engineer in Cypress, TX, you will:Drive mechanical design engineering initiatives for Systems Solutions, supporting strategic growth and customer‑focused project outcomesLead and coordinate medium‑scale mechanical engineering designs within a rapidly expanding business segmentDevelop innovative mechanical designs and provide expert technical guidance on active engineering projectsServe as a trusted advisor to cross‑functional teams, ensuring on‑time delivery and high‑value engineering solutionsImprove clarity, manufacturability, and execution across all mechanical design recommendationsCollaborate with the Senior ETO (Engineering‑to‑Order) Design Manager and engineering partners across the organizationOversee creation and release of engineering drawings, analyses, test plans, and technical documentationSelect and specify mechanical components required for project constructionCreate new parts and Bills of Material (BOMs) and upload them into the ERP systemTrack, support, and report mechanical design changes throughout the full project lifecycleProvide documentation support to application engineering, sales, and estimating teamsPartner with manufacturing and production teams to resolve build challenges and improve assembly processesPrepare quote packages and recommend design improvements to enhance manufacturability and reduce costApply mechanical engineering standards across design reviews, documentation, and project deliverablesWork collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partnersContribute to projects that impact communities in Houston, Katy, Tomball, Spring, The Woodlands, Jersey Village, Hockley, Waller, and Magnolia, and the greater Houston, TX metroApply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovationQUALIFICATIONSBachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering requiredExperience with mechanical systems including sheet metal enclosures, structural assemblies, and thermal management solutionsBackground in small‑ to medium‑scale system design such as electrical enclosures, panel layout, seismic considerations, and heat managementProficiency with major ERP and CAD platforms including SolidWorks and AutoCADWorking knowledge of mechanical engineering standards including ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association), UL (Underwriters Laboratories), and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)Skilled in generating and reviewing engineering documentation such as Bills of Material, engineering drawings, tolerance stack‑ups, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancingStrong proficiency with Microsoft Office toolsExcellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem‑solving skillsStrong written, verbal, and presentation communication abilitiesAbility to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑growth engineering environmentUnderstanding of structural and thermal analysis using FEA and CFD tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, or similar platformsSKILLS AND VALUESCapable of working independently and as a team memberStrong work ethic and unwavering integrityExcellent interpersonal skills and a learning mindsetCuriosity, problem solving, and analytical thinkingEffective verbal and written communicationDesire to work on a variety of projectsADDITIONAL INFORMATIONPlease consider joining Applied's team of talented employees in Cypress, TX and the greater Houston, TX metro area.Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
