Senior Accountant

Hybrid Senior Accountant — Pennsauken, NJ ($90,000–$100,000) We’re hiring a Hybrid Senior Accountant to own key areas of the month‑end close and deliver accurate, timely financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone who is highly confident with debits/credits, thrives in a structured close process, and is an advanced Excel user who can streamline reconciliations and reporting. Location & Schedule Location: Pennsauken, NJ Work Model: Hybrid (mix of in‑office and remote; schedule to be discussed) Salary: $90,000–$100,000 (based on experience) Month‑End Close Ownership Execute and support the full month‑end close process, ensuring all entries are complete, accurate, and posted on time. Prepare, record, and review journal entries with strong debit/credit precision (accruals, prepaids, allocations, reclasses, amortization, depreciation). Maintain and improve close checklists, timelines, and deliverables to ensure consistent on‑time close. Reconciliations & Financial Accuracy Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations (cash, AP/AR‑related accounts, accrued expenses, prepaid accounts, fixed assets, intercompany, and other key accounts as applicable). Investigate variances, identify root causes, and propose/execute corrective actions. Ensure general ledger activity is properly supported and documented, with clear audit trails. Reporting & Excel‑Driven Analysis Build and maintain Excel‑based schedules and close workpapers, using advanced functions to improve speed and accuracy. Create/refresh month‑end reporting packages and support financial statement preparation. Automate and improve recurring reports using Excel (pivot tables, lookups, Power Query) to reduce manual effort. Cross‑Functional Support Partner with AP/AR, operations, and FP&A (as applicable) to ensure proper coding, timing, and classification of transactions. Support audit requests and provide documentation for internal/external reviews. Participate in process improvement initiatives related to close efficiency, reconciliation quality, and reporting consistency. Required Qualifications 2–4 years of experience in a Senior Accountant role (or comparable scope and ownership). Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits/credits and general ledger mechanics. Hands‑on experience owning key portions of the month‑end close process. Advanced Excel skills (required): pivot tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, nested formulas; ability to manage complex reconciliations and schedules. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines consistently. Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating across teams. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Experience with ERP/accounting systems. Power Query/Power Pivot experience and/or light automation mindset. Exposure to audits, internal controls, and documentation standards. What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days) Independently manages assigned close tasks and journal entries with minimal oversight. Reconciliations are accurate, timely, and supported with clear documentation. Excel workpapers are clean, efficient, and improve the team’s ability to analyze balances and variances quickly. Identifies at least 1–2 opportunities to streamline close/reconciliation processes.
