American Hotel & Lodging Association For more than 100 years, the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) has been the foremost representative and advocate for the U.S. lodging industry. We represent commerce across all segments, from major global brands to independent inns, and provide a singular voice for brand CEOs, hotel owners, general managers, and staff. AHLA Internship Program The AHLA offers a paid summer internship program in government relations, membership services, and communications. Professionals will work on policy, advocacy, communications, member engagement, strategic partnerships, and AHLAF programs. The program runs from June to August, with a hybrid schedule planned for 2026: Tuesday–Thursday in Washington, D.C.
Compensation and Benefits:
Paid $25 /hr, bi‑weekly
40‑hour work week
Transportation stipend $75 /month
Internship Requirements:
Rising junior, senior, or graduate student
Available for 10–12 weeks starting June 8, 2026
Eligible to work in the U.S.
Minimum 3.0 GPA
Strong interest in hospitality industry

Responsibilities Support the Public Policy and Research team by conducting legal, regulatory, and data‑driven projects that advance the association’s advocacy priorities. Responsibilities include:
Conducting legal and policy research
Drafting concise summaries of federal, state, and local bills and regulatory developments
Assisting in briefings on Capitol Hill
Drafting research memoranda, letters, and data analytics
Building and maintaining policy‑relevant databases
Contributing to broader research initiatives that inform strategic advocacy and member engagement
