Will prepare forecasts, analyze business performance, review data and prepare monthly reports and metrics for all the business groups.Essential Duties/ResponsibilitiesPrepare, review, and support all aspects of the C&I Business Operating Expense (OPEX) budget, forecast, and monthly results variance analysis; prepare routine and ad hoc reportsPerform analysis of operating and financial results against budget and forecast targets for inclusion in management reports; provide explanations with an organizational and industry perspective, translate financial results into meaningful and useful feedback to the business teamsSupport the development, consolidation, and analysis of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and monthly reporting packages for the C&I business.Prepare monthly and annual management presentations, including updating P&L, and supporting schedules for financial and non-financial dataUtilize financial management and reporting systems to upload, retrieve, and validate dataWork to continuously improve existing reporting and analysis to drive insight and assist business growthAssist in the effectiveness of business processes, conduct analysis, makes recommendations, and coordinate implementation for system and process improvementsBuild effective working relationships across departments by communicating clearly, meeting deadlines, and responding to requests for informationParticipate in and complete special projects as assigned by managementWorking ConditionsHybrid work schedule; a combination of working remotely from home and 4 days a week in the officeOpen office environmentSome overtime required as special projects ariseMinimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree from an accredited four (4) year college/university with a major in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline from an accredited college or universityAdvanced Excel skills (xlookup, power pivot, and sumifs functions)Preferred Qualifications3+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably with personnel budgeting experienceExperience with Hyperion Planning software or comparable productsExperience with SAPProficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and WordPower Query/Other Macro tools experience a plusForward thinker and self-starterAdditional Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to work independently and complete responsibilities with little supervision showing initiative and self-motivation, yet work well in a team-oriented culture; adapts effectively to new and changing environmentsAble to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines; handles multiple assignments on a timely basis and completes with a high degree of accuracyCapability to resolve complex finance and accounting issues, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detailExcels in quickly conceptualizing and assimilating data to derive insight and take appropriate action; ability to step away from detail and see the bigger pictureExcellent interpersonal skills as this position requires significant interaction with outside stakeholders; proficient in communicating to a wide range of audiences in both written and oral form; able to build positive relationships, influence, and constructive challengeProficient at thinking with an operational and industry perspective; ability to link performance to external factorsNRG Energy is committed to a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
