This job is full-time permanent.Safety & Health CoordinatorThe Safety & Health Coordinator is a site-based safety professional responsible for the day-to-day execution of safety and health programs within a paper and pulp manufacturing environment. This role provides a strong on-floor safety presence while partnering closely with the EHS Manager to ensure regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement across high-hazard operations.Core ResponsibilitiesSafety Program Execution & Regulatory ComplianceCoordinate and administer mill safety and health programs in alignment with corporate safety standardsSupport compliance with OSHA and applicable state and federal regulations specific to pulp and paper operationsMaintain required safety records, permits, and documentation (OSHA logs, training records, inspections)Assist during regulatory inspections and internal/external auditsMill Floor Presence & Hazard ControlConduct routine safety inspections and audits across pulp mill, paper machines, utilities, recovery boiler, and maintenance areasPerform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and support lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and contractor safety programsIdentify high-risk activities and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustainedIncident Investigation & Risk ReductionLead or support incident, near-miss, and first-aid investigationsPerform root cause analysis and track corrective and preventive actionsAnalyze trends related to injuries, near misses, and process safety events and communicate findings to leadershipTraining & Employee EngagementCoordinate and deliver safety training for hourly employees, contractors, and visitorsSupport annual refresher training related to pulp and paper hazards (LOTO, confined space, mobile equipment, chemical safety)Actively support safety committees, toolbox talks, and employee engagement initiativesStrategic Support & EHS PartnershipPartner with the EHS Manager to implement site-wide safety initiatives and continuous improvement projectsSupport mill leadership in driving safety performance and accountabilityEscalate significant safety risks, compliance gaps, or trends appropriatelyAssist with safety metrics, KPIs, and annual safety planningEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree preferred in Safety, EHS, Industrial Hygiene, or related field3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment; pulp and paper experience strongly preferredWorking knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practicesCertifications (Preferred)OSHA 30ASP or CSP certification (or progression toward certification)First Aid / CPRKey CompetenciesStrong field presence in high-hazard, heavy industrial environmentsAbility to influence safe work practices without direct authorityEffective communicator across hourly and salaried teamsOrganized, detail-oriented, and compliance-focusedComfortable balanced tactical execution with strategic EHS supportYou will be required to successfully complete a selection process that could include interviews, an employment background check, a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions), and a fitness-for-duty test (for some positions).Domtar is an equal-opportunity employer.
