Ryerson offers a dynamic, quality-focused, environment, ideal for advancing your career and making your mark in the metals industry.As a Machine Shop Supervisor at Excelsior, a Ryerson Family of Companies, you will be responsible for directing the efficient function of shop operations including but not limited to day to day scheduling and shop floor supervision, assistance with technical questions or issues, and processing of customer RFQs and PO’s.Roles And ResponsibilitiesUnderstand production goals and implement actions necessary to meet objectivesCarry out and support company policies, goals and objectivesReview shop supply inventory and advise purchasing when levels are lowCommunicate with other departments, as well as other locations as neededSupport sales efforts which may require communication directly with customersUnderstand customer requirements and advise on decisions regarding suitability of material and processing equipmentProvide direction and coaching in safe work practices; support safety goalsAssist with responses to customer RFQs in a timely mannerCoordinate and issue vendor PO’s to purchase material for shop jobs or other items as neededProcess customer PO’s and input orders into Excelsior’s system to allow for efficient production of shop floor jobsCreate and communicate detailed job travelers to the shop floor and QC in order to ensure accurate production of customer jobsHelp resolve open technical issues with current shop floor jobs, assist and back up QC as neededAll other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without noticeRequirements3-5 years of previous machining experience in a CNC job shop environmentVery strong technical experience in a high-tolerance, high-precision machining environmentHigh School Diploma / GED is required; College Education preferredA minimum of one (1) to three (3) years supervisory experienceProficient in MS Outlook, Word, and ExcelGood verbal, written, and interpersonal skillsPrevious experience communicating with customers in a professional mannerSalary: $70,918.85- $106,378.27 annually.
